Cristine Reyes admitted that seeing the video clips of how tropical storm Sendong ravaged some parts of Mindanao reminded her of her tormenting experience during the wrath of typhoon Ondoy in 2009.

In an interview with ABS-CBN’s “Bandila” on Tuesday, Cristine said she couldn’t believe that a similar destructive event could happen again in the country.

“Naalala ko ‘yung pinangdaan ko. Hindi ako makapaniwala na puwede ulit siyang maulit sa ibang lugar sa Pilipinas,” she said.

According to Cristine, since she had a first hand experience on how terrifying it is to be caught helpless in the middle of raging floodwaters, she feels for the victims who are probably as traumatized as she was then.

“Tinamaan ako doon sa batang umiiyak kasi naalala ko ‘yung mga pamangkin ko umiiyak din sila nung Ondoy. Pataas na agad ‘yung tubig, ‘di namin alam kung saan kami pupunta,” Cristine said. “I feel for them. Tulung-tulong na lang tayo at ipagdasal natin ‘yung mga biktma ng Sendong.”

Cristine urged the victims of this calamity to stay strong.

“Ako nawala sa akin lahat [noong Ondoy], as in lahat talaga nawala, pero bumangon din ako kahit paano. Pero sana huwag tayong mawalan ng pag-asa,” she said.
