Malacañang on Monday confirmed that President Benigno Aquino III will meet American Idol 11 runner-up Filipino-American-Mexican Jessica Sanchez during his visit to the United States.

“He will have an opportunity to see Jessica Sanchez and then he will also meet with the Filipino community in LA (Los Angeles),” presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told reporters at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 after the send-off ceremony for the United Kingdom-bound President Benigno Aquino III.

After his official visit to the UK, President Benigno Aquino III will be in a working visit in the US from June 6 to 8 upon the invitation of President Barack Obama.

“The last day, bago siya umalis, the last leg is LA. Pagpunta sa LA, meeting with the business groups, meet with Jessica and meet with the Filipino community, then lipad na siya pabalik ng Pilipinas,” Edwin added.

The Filipino community represents about 3.1 percent of Los Angeles’ population.

Malacañang earlier lauded Jessica’s “extraordinary gift of music and heart.”

“This is only the beginning for Ms. Sanchez whose incredible talent has been recognized and appreciated the world over,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a statement issued last month.
