Entertainment editor Ricky Lo thanked “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez for “saving” Jessica Sanchez in the hit American talent show during the Top 7 eliminations week.

In a press conference for the movie “What To Expect When You’re Expecting,” Ricky took the opportunity to thank the Latina singer-actress for rushing to the stage to embrace Jessica while she was “singing for her life” last April 19.
“On behalf of the Filipinos, I want to thank you for ‘saving’ Jessica Sanchez on American Idol,” wrote Ricky in his column Sunday in the Philippine Star, referring to his conversation with Jessica.
Jennifer then replied: “You are very welcome.”
It was Jennifer who first ran up to the stage and grabbed the mic from a bewildered Jessica after she got the lowest number of votes during the first Top 7 performance show.
“Give me that mic! This is crazy! We’re using the save. You ain’t going home! Go sit down,” Jennifer told Jessica as the ‘Idol’ crowd stood on their feet, cheering and applauding.
Judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler then followed Jennifer and said on national television that they are “saving Jessica Sanchez without any doubt.”
Jennifer also urged the audience to continue their support for Jessica when she praised the young singer for her rendition of “You Are So Beautiful” during the Top 5 performance show.
“How could we have let this girl go home? Come on!” she said.
Jessica is currently part of “Idol” top 3 along with contestants Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips. The remaining contestants will battle for the top 2 spot this coming Wednesday (Thursday morning in Manila).
